REVIEW: STAR WARS RESISTANCE "Dangerous Business"

I have to admit, reading the official preview of this episode, I thought this episode was going to drag and not be that consequential like last week's episode. However, to my surprise, this week's episode, "Dangerous Business," proved to be very entertaining, as well as better connect to the main plot of the show as a whole.

Like I mentioned earlier, the start of the episode doesn't sound that exciting. Kaz and BB-8 agree to watch Blix and Orka's shop for them for the day. From there, the first five minutes just go by with little fanfare. However, not too long after Kaz takes over, a shady buyer tries to get a piece from the back of the shop called a phase connector, which Blix and Orka said not to sell.

Eventually, the dealer orders other parts and makes Kaz hand deliver them to him. Kaz takes the opportunity to try and spy on him, but gets trapped in a cargo box, about to be dropped in the ocean, while the dealer steals the the part from the shop. The extended sequence itself is pretty entertaining, with Kaz showing a surprising sense of cleverness and ingenuity in escaping from the death trap, as well as a highlight sequence of BB-8 trying his best to stop the dealer. There's a reason why everyone loves BB-8.

Kaz goes aboard the dealer's ship, and it's revealed he's in league with the First Order, as there are stormtroopers on board. However, as it turns out, Kaz isn't without any allies. Blix and Orka's pet in the shop, "Bighty," sneaked aboard the ship. While I admit Bighty caused some problems with Kaz throughout the episode, and some annoyance for me, I thought it was pretty clever that Kaz used the creature to disable the whole ship, and cause it to crash and explode, though the dealer and the troopers survived as well.

The entire sequence was entertaining as well, and at the end, it is revealed that the purpose of the connector is used to mine asteroids and other similar structures, which we, as the audience, know is for Starkiller Base.

So overall, color me impressed. While not the best episode of the series, this episode proved to be thoroughly entertaining throughout, and had more connections to the main First Order story than I thought it was going to be. Kaz is slowly starting to connect more of the dots to the First Order's plans, which will hopefully boil over in the coming weeks.
