Top Five The Last Jedi moments
I mean, I've done it for all the other live-action films, so now it's Episode 8's turn. Yes, I know this film is divisive, which I will get to in another article. However, that doesn't mean there isn't moments I liked, and things I thought was really good. So, without further delay, here are my personal favorite moments from The Last Jedi.
5. The opening battle
For the most part, I thought the action scenes in the film were good, but some of my favorites. The Battle of Crait was a highlight, but for me, this was my favorite battle of the film. I liked Poe showing off his skills, I liked the almost World War-era fighting with the ships, and I liked the tension, mixed with the humor. Plus, it set the tone right away that the Resistance is not immune to death.
4. Yoda and Luke
You know, with how often things get leaked from movies, I'm surprised Lucasfilm was able to keep Yoda a secret up until release. It was a welcome surprise to see him in the film, and his conversation with Luke not only snapped him out of his self-exile pity, but also gave him, as well as the audience, a lesson that can be used in life, that the greatest teacher in life is failure.
3. Luke's redemption
I'll talk further about Luke's character arc in the film later, but to me, the last part of the film, mostly redeemed the character and put him out on a peaceful note. Obviously, it was emotional to see Luke and Leia interact one last time, not just because of Carrie Fisher's passing. This leads to Luke dramatically do the thing he said he wouldn't do in the beginning of the film, take on the First Order himself. His "duel," with Kylo Ren, was also very compelling to me, and the twist of him projecting himself across the galaxy was the biggest highlight, and something we've never really seen in Star Wars before. Plus, even though I wasn't thrilled about him dying, the image of him dying in front of "twin suns," was symbolic to say the least. They represented the beginning of his journey, and the end of his physical journey.

2. Rey and Kylo team up
One of the strongest aspect of the film to me was the relationship between Rey and Kylo Ren. Their dynamic leads to a thrilling fight between Snoke's guards. In fact, the whole throne room scene, which yeah, you can call a ripoff of Return of the Jedi, was a real highlight for me. Granted, I am disappointed we didn't get a lightsaber duel in the film, but the fight itself was handled well with great music and effects.
Honorable mentions
As always, here are some honorable mentions:
* Finn vs Phasma fight -- even if it was too short;
* The intro to Canto Bight -- mainly for the catchy music;
* Rey's training and lessons;
* Battle of Crait;
* Chewie nearly eating the porgs;
* "We have everyone we need to rebuild."
1. The "Holdo" maneuver
I wasn't a real big fan of the character, however, Holdo, to me, Holdo had one of the most badass and jaw-dropping moments in the entire saga. When I first saw this moment in the film, I was in complete awe. I couldn't believe she did it to begin with, but the images and effects were simply astounding, and I loved the fact there was silence for a few seconds to help with the mood and tone of what just happened.
In the end, you can say what you want about Rian Johnson and the film, but you can't deny there was moments in the film that were memorable and shined.
