REVIEW: Star Wars Forces of Destiny Season 1 Part 2

I know what you're thinking, it this really necessary to review? Well, truthfully, no, as most of my opinions on this second season will be the same on what I thought of the first season...It's ok. It's not great, but it's not offensive either. They are simple 2-4 minute shorts that are primarily meant for young girls. There's nothing wrong with them existing, nor is there nothing that is forcing you to watch them. That being said, I feel it is my duty to give these a fair shot...and, to be honest, one episode I actually loved.

All right, I'll use this section to talk about what I thought of each episode. "Newest Recruit," shows a mission involving Ketsu and Sabine with the former joining the Rebellion afterwards. It was decent. "Tracker Trouble," takes place during the Force Awakens (with John Boyega reprising his role as Finn) with Rey helping Han remove a tracking device from the Falcon. It was decent. "Teach You, I Will," showcases Ahsoka's first lessons in learning how to wield her lightsaber shoto from Anakin and Yoda. Other than having to look at Anakin's ugly character model again, the episode was good, as it shows a development in Ahsoka's character and lightsaber skills. "The Starfighter Stunt," shows Padme fighting a vulture droid in space. Other than the novelty of seeing Ahsoka and Padme together, the episode was nothing special.

"Accidential Allies," sees Sabine and Jyn from Rogue One unwittingly work together on a mission. It was cool to see the two characters interact, as it represents an original live action character interacting with an original animated character. But again, the episode was ok. "An Imperial Feast," was the episode I loved. Not because of the story. But because it shows that Hera and Chopper not only survive past the Battle of Endor, but it also shows that Han and Hera have a banterful history together as part of the Rebel Alliance. I think that is awesome and I hope we get to see more of Hera's stories in the Rebel Alliance in the future.

"The Happabore Hazard," sees Rey trying to help the big creature that was on Jakku in the Force Awakens, it was decent. Finally, "Crash Course," showed Sabine and Ketsu again and it was a waste of time. It barely showed anything and it was shortest episode by far. Therefore, it was bad.

So, that's two episodes I thought were at least good, a few I thought were decent, a few average, and one I thought was bad. I would say that's a fair assessment. Trust me, I've given a lot more credit to this show than a lot of fans have. The voice cast is once again superb, the animation, for the most part, is fine for the limitations, though it still has its rough moments. Plus, the stories are meant to be simple to help fill the gaps, provide new insight into establishes characters, or to simply be fun distractions.

I know you're going to make me ask which season I liked more. I guess I would have to pick this one a little be more for its fun moments, but again, I don't think these are masterpieces at all. I watch them for the lore. Will I get distracted by its target audience and its reason for existing, to sell merchandise? No, I won't. This isn't the worst to happen to Star Wars, not by a long shot, and, like I said before if it introduces and gets young kids into the franchise, than isn't that what's important and matters the most?
