The Force Awakens: A Theory of Finn
A lot of you might be expecting me to talk about the teaser that came out this week for the Force Awakens. What, you mean that 15 second thing that of all places was put on Instagram? It literally only had two new shots. One was a shot of Rey and BB-8, HOW EXCITING! Another shot was of Finn, John Boyega's character, holding a lightsaber in the same icy forest that Kylo Ren was in when the first teaser came out. That shot actually made me think of a theory of the character of Finn and some of the plot elements of the Force Awakens.
Now, this is all a theory of mine that I was thinking of. It could all be totally wrong when the movie comes out. However, let me explain anyway. It has already been confirmed that Finn, at least at the beginning, is a stormtrooper of the First Order. I imagine that he joined the First Order due to false propaganda or perhaps he thought it would be a noble cause. However, since the First Order is like the Empire, it is probably not a great place to work for that does great things to people.
I imagine there will be an event in the film that shows Finn just how "evil" the First Order is and is horrified. I imagine that he will then decide to either leave the Order or do something drastic, such as maybe commender a Tie Fighter and fight his former troops.
In either situation, this causes the attention of the First Order who now want him dead or captured. From there, I imagine that he will be on the run at this point which is why he is all sweaty and nervous at the beginning of the first trailer. The planet that he is on will most likely be Jakku, where according to the Battlefront game, a massive battle took place between the Galactic Empire and The New Republic one year after the Battle of Endor.
At this time, while he is on the run, he will probably run into both Rey and BB-8, who the former may or may not be related to Luke, Han, or Leia. She will probably help him on his way through the planet and into contact with the Resistance. From there, anything can happen, but I imagine that he is force-sensitive which calls into attention Luke and aks him if he wants to be trained in the force. A lot of people believe that the lightsaber that Finn is holding in the Instagram teaser was Luke's first lightsaber, which was Anakin's lightsaber.
From there, I imagine that there will be a duel on the unidentified ice planet between Finn and Kylo Ren, who was revealed by J.J. Abrams not to be a Sith and was part of the order known as the Knights of Ren. Therefore, there could be a duel between a non-Sith and a non-Jedi type, but both represent the light and dark sides of the force.
Like I said, this is all up for debate. However, since I have said all this, does that mean this is what the plot of the film will be? Who knows, although if what I said is true, I'm positive that the film will have more stuff in it than that. That being said, Lucasfilm, Disney, the fact that I was able to make a fully-fledged theory like that means maybe you are starting to show a little too much information about the film. The two teaser trailers were fine, but about the EW article and now this, plus another full teaser trailer coming before the film is out, you might be showing a little too much info. Granted, it's not the Amazing Spiderman 2 levels of revealing, and people are going to see the movie regardless.
