5 Things We Want From Star Wars Rebels Season 2
Star Wars Rebels Season 2 is sort of going to premiere on June 20th. I say sort of because on June 20th, there will be a one-hour TV movie called the Siege of Lothal. After that, there has been no other information about when the other episodes will begin airing. However, despite that, I can still give my piece about what I want in Season 2. While I thought the first season was really good, there are some aspects of the show that needs to be improved upon. Therefore, after the jump, hear what I want to see in Star Wars Rebels Season 2.
1) More Character Development for the Main Cast
This was the biggest problem I had with the first season. The main crew of the Ghost, while they are all liekable characters, have not had that much development as far as backstory, motivations, and even personality. While Ezra and Kanan got more of a focus towards the end of the season, the other three, particuarly Sabine, still need more screentime and focus. As I mentioned before, they all have interesting backstories that is just begging to be expanded upon.
Sabine used to be a part of the Empire, Zeb had his home planet and species destroyed and Hera's father was a famous rebel leader during the Clone Wars. Hell, even though they are showing how Kanan escaped the Empire in a comic book series, the show could still go into more emotional detail on his life choices. Finally, with Ezra, I hope by the end of the season he finally learns how to use a lightsaber and use the force and also explain what happened to his parents.
2) Explain What Happened to Rex and Ahsoka
Rebels threw fans a huge curveball by revealing that one of the leaders of the Rebel Network is Clone Wars fan-favorite Ahsoka Tano. Now, she will be a somewhat major character this season and be the mentor to Ezra and Kanan as well. The question remains, how did she start this Allaince with Bail and the others? I hope the writers go into this subject with great care and detail because this Rebel Network is the precursor to the Rebel Allaince, and also, many fans, including myself, want to know what happened to Ahsoka after she left the Jedi Order.
Also returning this season is another fan-favorite character from the Clone Wars: Captain Rex, as well as two of his clone friends, Gregor, and Wolfe. Again, I hope they go into great detail on why he and Wolfe left the Republic/Empire, found out (spoilers from the Clone Wars) about the chips inside their head for Order 66, and how they found Gregor and Ahsoka after the war?
3) More Epic Moments and Battles
The first season of Rebels had amazing fights and lightsaber duels with my personal favorite being the final fight between Kanan, Ezra and the Inquisitor. Now, with the show getting bigger and rising, I imagine the shows fights and spectacles will be even crazier than before. Also, GIVE US VADER VS AHSOKA! ITS GOT TO HAPPEN!
4) Develop New Characters and Groups
It is confirmed that we will see other Rebel cells in the grand Rebel Network. Well, lets learn more about them. How many are there? How did they get their start? How deal Bail and Ahsoka meet and come up with the idea for this network? What is their ultimate goal? More importanly, how much sooner will it be until this Network is officially turned into the Rebel Allaince from the original trilogy?
There is also going to be at least two new Inquisitors this season. Hopefully, the show will tell us who they are, if the Emperor and Vader have any more besides them and why didnt the other two not help the first Inquisitor out?
5) New Locations and Experiences
Lothal is not a bad planet or anything like that, but most of the show during the first season took place during the planet and it kinda grew old after awhile. Also, the crew of the Ghost usually did similar missions each episode, again, it isnt bad, but grew a little stale. Lets raise the stakes even more, lets go the different planets, meet new people, go on different types of missions and adventures and keep us on the edge of our seats the entire season. That is what I am truly looking for this season.
